Why?
Today, India alone is home to 12 Crore people aged 60 and above. By 2030, 20 Crore.
Activites of daily living such as sit-to-stand (STS) are markers of a person's functional independence. Age, disease, and injury, can impact their ability to perform this function - performed on average between 16-22 times a day - safely and independently. Hiring help is expensive and intrusive.
To secure everyday participation - socially and economically - it is vital for elements of our urban and shared spaces to be functionalized.
